JOY in His presence

May 2015: I went with Roberts Nursing to La Carpio serving with Christ for the City After studying abroad 6 years ago, Costa Rica has always been on my mind. Currently I'm working in a small rehabilitation center in Windsor, Vermont. My goal is to pair a career of 13-week contracts with short term mission opportunities. I received a postcard from  Christ for the City  advertising their needs and  opportunities. Returning was always a goal for me, and with this schedule God has orchestrated for the season I'm ready to go. On August 1st I leave for my next adventure!   I am returning to Costa Rica as a Clinic Nurse! The clinic is located outside the capital city of San Jose. This slum adjacent to the city dump, is home to roughly 40,000 people, half of which are children, crammed into only 1.5 square miles. Most of the people who call this place home are Nicaraguan refugees with no access to healthcare, making this clinic and its se...

Here are some highlights of our Family Week! As a family of 10, and siblings in different states (or countries?) this only happens about twice a year. The minis keep it fun and energetic- except for when it is nap time- that is taken seriously by everyone. Three Generations- Papa, Ben and Josiah  Atop Equinox Mountain Nana an Popsie- they delivered donuts to our kiddie pool party 🍩 Making the 2-Two year olds cooperate required the mothers about the camera,  waving ice cream cones as a bribe. Too bad the lens wasn't reversed.    Sister Sister 👯 Eloise Joy at 1 Month Old! What a month of JOY it has really been! This is not a good-bye. That is too final. Rochester has been my home for 7 years. I have learned what it is like to be a regular at my fav cafe. I have learned to navigate without GPS. I learned how my passions and gifting can be combined into one job.I have learned to say no, to say please, and to say help.  I have learned how to love, and be loved. I have learned how to listen.  I have learned- there is SO much to still learn. It is slightly easier to leave now- while everything is still gray. But it is still hard.
